Employment and Internship Opportunities

The Human Services Center Corporation (HSCC) is currently seeking candidates for part-time temporary work in the Youth LIFE After-School Programs which will begin Monday, September 19thand we will end Friday, May 18th. You must possess current Act 33/34 and FBI clearances or at least start applying for them to be considered for an interview.

Education Associate– Responsibilities include overseeing a classroom of diverse youth, implementing an internet-based curriculum, implementing current events, cultural, science, and other supplemental activities, and more.  Hours are generally Monday through Thursdays, from 3:45PM-6:45PM (one site is Monday-Friday, from 3:45PM-6:45PM).  Anticipated number hours worked is between 12 and 15 per week.  Pay is $12/hour.

Recreation Associate– Responsibilities include implementing various physical and recreational activities with youth involved in the after-school program site and more.  Hours are generally Monday through Thursdays, from 3:45PM-6:45PM (one site is Monday-Friday, from 3:45PM-6:45PM).  Anticipated number hours worked is between 12 and 15 per week.  Pay is $12/hour.

Internship Opportunities

A suitable intern will be:

  1. An advanced writer with quality communication skills

  2. In possession of current Act 33/34 Clearances

  3. Self-motivated and eager to demonstrate leadership and initiative

  4. One who possesses computer skills in Word, Outlook, Power Point, and web searches

  5. Seeking a degree in social work, public administration, urban studies, education, or a related field

Youth Programs Intern

The Youth Learning In a Fun Environment (LIFE) After-School Program, a program of the HSCC, is seeking a student (preferably a social work/direct practice student) for fall through spring to implement an evidence-based, best practice behavior modification curriculum – PATHS (Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies).  The curriculum is focused on first through fifth graders.  Ideally, the internship will be at least three days per week between Monday and Thursday from 10:30am-6:30pm.  However, 4 days from 12:30 – 6:30 would be acceptable.  Transportation is required.  This is a paid internship.  For more information please contact Leah O’Reilly at 412-829-7112 or by email at loreilly@hscc-mvpc.org.  Resumes and a writing sample should be emailed to Leah. 

McKeesport Collaborative Intern

The McKeesport Collaborative, a program of the HSCC, is looking for students to help staff and/or plan monthly meetings of the Working Groups: Education and Training, HIV and AIDS, and Housing, assist with planning and implementing our annual fundraising event - the HIV/AIDS Awareness Walk, coordinate World AIDS Day, research and pursue funding opportunities, and much more.   In addition, you must possess current Act 33/34 clearances. Mon Valley Providers Council Intern

Volunteer Opportunities

 Youth Programs Volunteer

KOOL Chaperone Volunteer

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to assist eligible taxpayers complete federal and state income tax returns each filing season through the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) VITA program.  VITA volunteers provide free tax preparation assistance to individuals who are on a limited or fixed income, or who are older adults, disabled, home-confined, or non-English speaking taxpayers.  Prospective volunteers will undergo free training to ensure they meet the IRS VITA volunteer guidelines.  All volunteers are taught federal and PA tax law, the preparation of simple tax returns, and the completion of PACE and PA and Rent and Property Tax Rebate forms.  For more information, please contact Arwen Davis at 412-829-7112 or adavis@hscc-mvpc.org.
